On My Etsy Shop: Black and White Covered Notebook

What's Black and White and read all over?   in this case it is not a newspaper, and that kiddie riddle suggested when I was a child.   In this case the riddle should read, "What's Black and White and WRITTEN all over.  In this case it would be a Black and White covered notebook.   I am putting this up on my Etsy Shop as well.   Perfect for anyone.   The description on the list reads:
Black and White items are part of a trend, and it has been for several years. One of the reasons why I love black and white is it goes with everything and they are neutral.
So i was thinking, why not have a covered notebook so that everyone, man , woman, and child can use it. it is not too girly, not to manly, and not too childish. Just right, and Goldilocks would say in the Three Bear's story.
Just like in the Amore Notebook, there are two pockets, one in the front and one in the back. The one in the back it for when you wan to slide papers in, while the front pocket is your traditional pocket. I hope you will enjoy you notebook if you decide to purchase it. All orders can be customize to fit your taste. Just let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy!

covered notebook: positive words

I must admit that I love this paper when I created this notebook.   It gives so many positive messages from love to dream.   My description on my Etsy shop is as follows:
Everyone needs a little encouragement, and positive words will do it each and every time. It lifts the spirits, and it makes a person fill good. I think that what happened when I picked out this paper. I had another purpose for the paper, but this worked out fine when I re-purposed it.
Some of the words on the notebook are "Love", "Cherish",and Dream. Red embossed with a little sparkle.
Have fun writing in this notebook and enjoy!

On my Etsy shop: Covered Notebook: Amore

Another notebook is up on My Etsy Shop is Amore.   it shows love, but you can use it any way you want to.   The description is as following:
Love is the strongest language I know of. Love is one of those things that you do not have to say a word, just show it. You can also receive love as well.
This notebook reminds me of that love, and it also have this collage-feel about it. that is what I love about this cover. The inside has two pockets, one for the front and one for the back. You can place little notes or hold a pen. Enjoy!

Up On Etsy....World Traveler

This is my second notebook which will be posted on my Etsy shop.    The description reads as follows:

I love traveling. For me, it is good to just get away and see how the rest of the world lives. Right now, my traveling is restricted to just the United States, Canada, Mexico, or a cruise, but I would love to visit other places someday, like Paris, Italy, African, and maybe Japan. LOL, I have not decided yet where to start.
This notebook reminds me of those travels I would like to take in the near future. The patterned paper covering the notebook is that of an old world map, perhaps the kind that people like Magellan or Columbus would had. A red ribbon represents a book mark. A stick tag is so you can name your journal. Enjoy!

Up on Etsy….5 notebooks: Country Charm

Hello-
It has been two long months since I have posted on this blog.  I have posted on my other blogs, but not P.Lynne Designs.  Life got in the way and I had some major home renovations and repairs to do in the house.   I will not go into detail here.   I plan on posting on here from now on out to the end of the year.
The holidays are here.  In less than a week, we will all be eating turkey or whatever suits our fancy here in the United States.  I understand that the rest of the world does not celebrate, and the Canadians had their Thanksgiving last month.
I want to start out by first explaining that the notebooks I did were part of a craft fair I did two years ago.  I found them when I was cleaning out stuff, sitting in a box.  I have freshen them up, and in some cases, did the inside cover with my signature pockets on them.   When I originally made them, I realized that everyone needs a pocket to hold loose notes.  The rest I left as is.  As I find more stuff, I am going to put them on my Etsy shop which it too has been neglected since the summer.

Below are the notebooks that I am putting up for sale:

As I said, I created this and all the notebooks two years ago.   the listing on Etsy is as follows:
I decided to create and cover journals two years ago. I loved a notebook that I had covered that year a and thought to sell them in a craft fair. the fair wasn't that great, because there was 2-10 crafts fairs going on that year. none of the vendors made an outside sale that day.
Fast forward to 2013, and I decided to put them in my shop.
This notebook reminds me of old country wallpaper in a kitchen. My grandmother never had wallpaper like this but, if she did, it probably would look like that. On the inside is cover with rose cardstock, and the paper is standard notebook paper. Enjoy

My Etsy Shop has been rebooted

I have rebooted my Etsy shop, which now has the new name, P. Lynne Designs, and new items.   At the moment, I am crafting by adding new items, and I have dived into the world of digital documents for people who keep or want to keep home management manuals for their home.
So these are the items I have listed:

This first item is a 3 card set with envelopes.  I have a love for shopping, and this is dedicated to all of those who also have that love.   I have forgotten the name of the paper, but it has French writing on it.  the bag is a die cut made with the Cricut.   I distressed the front and the sides.   the bag says "shopping" on it.  The envelopes are made from Kraft color paper.  You can check out the listing under "Related Articles"

The next item is a set of 4 cards, tags, and envelopes.   My challenge at the time was to see what I can make out of a card kit.   The card kit is a retired kit from Close to My Heart, and it is a spring card set.   The tags have flowers on them that match the cards, and the envelopes are made out of vellum.

The last card set is a set of 6 cards, again made from a Close to My Heart Set with 6 vellum envelopes.   Each card is different but there are 2 Just for you, a Thinking of You, Thank You, Happy Spring, and a non Sentiment card.  all are have the same pattern, just done in different ways, and I had fun doing it.   The point of the challenge comes from another post I had last year.  Use a kit and think outside the box.  You do not have to make the design that is given to you, especially if you are not a beginner and you already have a design in mind.   I love seeing what I can do with the materials that were given to me, and make it mine.

Digital Products.

As I said at the top of this post, I am trying my hand in selling digital products.   For the moment, it will not be cards, but I want to get into invitations.  I have seen several digital products on Etsy, Ebay, and the others.  All you need is your computer and printer to print it out.  The only thing that I do ask of is since the file is made for the person buying the file that it is not sold as part of another package.  These files were meant to be sold for personal use only.   I do not mind creating documents for a business, because I am a freelance writer as well.  I just asked that these documents would not be sold that way.

The first one is a Daily To do list.  It is arranged so that a person can go room by room, and write out what needs to be done.   Print it out on you paper as needed.  I just printed it out on the paper I had in my printer at the time, which was spiral bound paper.
As you can tell by the picture, You can list up to 5 things to do in each room.  I hope you do not have more than five.   If you do, let me know, and I can customize the file to your preference.

The last one is the same thing, only this is a monthly to do list.  This is a month by month list, and it is also organized room by room.   This is for those things that you need to do on a monthly basis.

These two are the beginnings of a home management guide I am putting together, and I hope I will have it together by fall.  Why so long?  This is a teaser, but I am working on a beginners scrapbook e-book.   This is for those who either want to scrapbook and do not have the money or the patience to do it, or those who want a refresher course in it.  I am almost finished with the writing portion of it, and then there is the editing and other things that an e-book needs.  I will let you know when it is finished.

Well that is it for now.  I do hope that you do check out my Etsy shop, and I have started to add to it more every day.    Have a blessed day.

New Shopping cart, Just in time for Black Friday (by only a few hours)

Welcome to Black Friday!!  My favorite time of year as both shopper and merchant. (Well it is one of my favorites)

Please forgive me when I say this...I have sales.  Yes, I do.  Ok, let's get started.

"Welcome to Our Home" is a set of 8 embossed cards.   They are elegant enough to use for a party of 8, but yet so down to earth to use as an open house.   It does not matter if you are moving or not.

They are listed on Shoplocket at $14.00.  Envelopes are included.

Handmade Note Cards are cute as a gift tags this time of year.  These will also be listed on Shoplocket as well.

The rest of my card listings will be in my Etsy shop, MDN Creates (www.etsy.com/shop/mdncreates) or click on shop MDN Creates link at the top of the blog.  There is a coupon code for you to use.  It is code Cmascrd4u, and it is for 20% off the price.   You can use it through Tuesday November 27.  Each of my products listed can be customized towards your tastes, and I am taking orders for all products.   If there isn't something that you do not see here, I will be adding more as the Christmas holiday season gets underway.   I cover all holidays, birthdays, Wedding invites and more.   I will even make scrapbooks, home management systems, and art journals.

Well that is it for Black Friday on MDN Creates.  If you want some more good deals, there are some on my other site:  Tricia's Baskets where I am an Independent Longaberger Home Consultant.

Funding the business

2012-05-08 10.06.55
A few days ago, I attended a  crowdfunding meeting.  So you may be wondering, what is crowdfunding?   Crowdfunding is basically asking family, friends, and strangers to fund a project you are working on.  It could be anywhere from supplying materials for your company to going on vacation.  Is it simply?  no it is not.  You basically have to know someone who is does not mind funding your cause and advertise.
Mine is simply, I just simply want to make cards and I need supplies to do so.  I am with Indiegogo.com, and I have 21 days to get $500 (It may say $300, the site would not except the $300 bid).  Supplies I need will help me make cards and other goods for my Etsy store, MDN Creates.   I would love to make some money this holiday season, so I can make more cards, scrapbooks, journals anything in this area.  I also need to spread the word about MDN Creates, and make things for others.   Anyway, here is the Campaign URL, http://igg.me/p/258496?a=1645403. I will except any amount, even $1.00.  I really want this business to work.  This is my summary and other details:

Short Summary

My name is Patricia Logan and I am the owner of MDN Creates.  MDN Creates is a custom scrapbook company, which makes customized scrapbooks, greeting cards, and journals.  I have been creating since 1997 and just opened the company in November 2009.

What We Need & What You Get

I need $300 which will go towards supplies.  The holiday season will be here, and I would like to help people who want to give a scrapbook or a journal as a gift or if they need to send a holiday greeting out to that spoecial person.  I want to make cards that are fresh and right for the season.  I also want to stock my Etsy shop with holiday items for people to purchase. These items are greeting cards, notebooks, and other items.

The Impact

To get a good idea of what I am talking about, my Etsy Shop is www.etsy.com/shop/mdncreates. I have a few cards in there for right now, and most of the shops I see are ready for the holiday selling season.  These are home-made items, which is what I am selling as well.  I would like to be ready as well, especially the day after Thanksgiving.  the cards come in set of 2, 3, 8, or 10.  If a customer wants more than 10, I can arrange that for them.   As for the Scrapbooks, the average scrapbook is 20 pages for a nice size book (12x12).  I can make them smaller or have more pages.   so the scrapbook supplies would be used for this project.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you cannot give, I understand that.  You can just go to either my etsy shop and take a look or to my blog, MDN Creates (www.triciatreasure.blogspot.com), and read some of my post and look at my work.  Once you have done that, spread the word about this campaign to your friends and family to see of they would like to contribute.  You are also welcome to guest blog on my other blogs.  just email me at plogan@columbus.rr.com to find out which ones I have.  At least you looked, and I will get the word out about you too.

Anyway that's it for the campaign.

Thank you and Be Blessed.

I have a listing on my Etsy shop...

Hello-

One of the cards in the grab bag package
Today is a short post.  I am de-cluttering and de-stashing my cards.  The reason is I am in the process of getting ready to make and list a whole bunch of cards for the holiday season.  Soon in a couple of months, people will be looking for cards to send to friends and loved ones and I want to be part of the action.  So part of my efforts is list cards, let people know that they are available, not just for show, but to buy.  I have a little gadget that will help me with the videos, and that is my Ipad.  So I do not have to have a webcam for my desktop, but I am getting one anyway.

Anyway, the link for the video is HERE. or view from this page.   The listing price for the pack of cards is $50, which is $2.50 per card, and there is 20 nice cards in this package.  Some of the cards were given to me in a card swap, and there are some in there by me.
I hope you do take a look at my listing, which you can view on the right side of this post.
Have a blessed evening.

The Holidays are coming, Need Help?

Any Occasion Homemade Card
Hello-

Reminder:  You have less than 100 days before the big holiday season arrives.  Are you nervous?  Yeah, I know I am shaking too.  Nothings worst than forgetting that all too important toy that the soon to be 4 year old niece has wanted since LAST Christmas.  Yep, I got it covered (Yeah, right.   By The Way, she's 4 this week!!!)
Anyway, I am here to help.  (elevator pitch...) "I work with women who want to make memories or brighten someone's day."  How do I accomplish that feat?  Good question, by creating scrapbooks, mini books, and cards of all occasions for customers.  I also create gifts too.  I am in the process of restocking my Etsy store, and I am in the process of creating items for my Melah, Bonanza, Goodsmith's stores and do a couple of Ebay listings.  So if you are looking for something to send to your wonderful family, a gift, or some that brighten up someone's day, just let me know.

Be Blessed everyday, and have a great week.

My parents (Hey, they have their own expenses too, besides that, I have a brother and a sister (plus a nephew ) they are helping out too).
Blogging (love doing that, but it is traffic that I need as well)

So If you like what you see so far (I have more coming), please donate.   The address is http://www.gofundme.com/uhewc.

New segment: Favorite Etsy Items and shops

As many of you may know, I have a shop on Etsy.  If you are not familiar with Etsy, or any sites like Etsy, Etsy is a site where artisans show and sells their goods.  It is a perfect way to get your name out there, show what you make, and hope that someone will like that product enough to buy it.  The best thing about Etsy is when you buy something from an artisan, the products are of a good quality, and no two are alike.  There is not middleman (other than Etsy providing the space to showcase in).  You set your own prices, and the only thing you have to pay is a $0.20 listing fee.   It is something that makes it different from Ebay alone.  This is a problem I have had with Ebay from the very beginning.  You pay to list the product, for Ebay to hold the product listing, and then you have to pay them when you sell the product.  A product that has been in your home or business during the course of the sale.

Etsy also gives artisans tips on how to keep people coming back to your shop.   Another nice thing about Etsy is you get to heart your favorite items and shops you see while hunting for that unique item.  This is where I come in.   I have a bunch of shops and items I love to see, and nowhere to give a review on why I love it, until now.  I hope it will inspire you to see the product itself, like it, or even buy it.

So I have my first item, which is not a made item.   Etsy also allows people to sell supplies on its site as well.   So this product on sale is a lace grab bag.   As I start working more and more with lace, I need a place where I can get it as inexpensive as possible.  Lavish Laces is the name of the shop, and Jaizella Lynn is the shop owner.   I have not bought anything from her yet, but I have seen a you tube video where someone bought the grab bag, and I saw that the bag does not skimp on quantity.  It cost $5.  In addition to the grab bag, she has laces, roses, trims, and more for sale at her shop.    Check her out.

This is just a taste of what's in store for this new segment.   Also check out my own shop, MDN Creates, to see what I have listed.   I am recuperating from the last person who bought some items, and I talking replenishing the supply vault.   As you see from my previous post, I have also taken in an auction site called Tophatter, and my auction should be ready to go out the door.  In the meantime, if you are an artist and you would like me to look at your products on Etsy or another site like Etsy, let me know in the comments section.  Have a blessed day.

Etsy Listings

I am finally listing on Etsy again.   I have two items.

The first one is a welcome to our home card set.   I decided to list it again after a year's absence, because I would love for this set to go to a new home.   I have listed it as a letter press-like item, because it looks just as good as a card that is made with letterpress ink.  They do come with envelops.

The second item is my final notepad before I need to make more.  Made from chipboard coasters, scrapbook paper pieced and is in tan and brown metallic.  A post of note is being held in place by double sided tape.

To see these items, visit my Etsy stop by clicking the tab at the top.

Enjoy!

1/8 inch round eyelets by MDNCreates on Etsy-for sale

1/8 inch round eyelets by MDNCreates on Etsy:

'via Blog this'

I am purging some stuff...scrapbooking stuff.   I am getting rid of items I no longer use.  They are cluttering my town home, so as that song from NSync from a few year's ago says in their song, bye, bye, bye.   I may be saving some for a giveaway or two.   a future idea is to sell kits and supplies, but I will have to think about that a little more.   I refuse to give Ebay my money, because they are only $1.50 for 20.   More to come...

Posting something on My Etsy Page-

I am getting rid of some supplies!!!

Folks, Have you ever get tired of looking at things that you know you will never use again?   This is where I am at with some of my scrapbooking supplies.   Everyone does it on occasion,  I have never put supplies up for sale, at least not a lot of them.  So when I get finished taking a little nap (I have not been to bed yet), I will start listing.   I spent part of yesterday, listing items in my inventory, and all I have to do is put the prices in my Excel spreadsheet, transfer them to my Access database (already created), and then write the descriptions of the products and list them under supplies in Etsy.   I grew tired of Ebay.  I do not like the fee structure, and I am out to get monetary value for my stuff, not give it away (which is what I am basically doing when I list stuff with Ebay)
Here is a clue for anyone who is reading this from a cubicle at Ebay Headquarters:  all of your competitors (Etsy, Bonanza, et.all ) do not, repeat, DO NOT CHARGE a fee after an item after it is sold.  I have lost money on many Longaberger products that way (I have not had success for cards through Ebay).  I may be wrong, but from what I have seen, I have not seen any fees from them.  OK, enough complaining about Ebay.

What will be listed?

First up will be eyelets.   I use mostly brads, and my eyelets have been sitting there for over 10 years.   The way I fasten items is I punch with my crop-a-dile to create a hole, stick the brad in the hole, and that's it.   The eyelets are collecting dust (figure of speech, they were actually well taken care of in a Close to My Heart Eyelet holder (I think that is what it is called.) ).  In the future, I plan on selling kits I make up, but for now, I am sticking to gently used items (along with anything I make of course).  So in order to see what I have, click the page link (Etsy Shop link at the top ), and check it out.  You never know what I may have.

Well I will talk to you on Friday.  I will have another post for the Card a day Blog, and it is a graduation card.   My purpose for this card is to show you how to work with 3-d stickers (such as Jolee's, EK Success, and other brands to make a beautiful card.  After all, if it is from the heart, it will surly count, and you have made a graduate's day.   Be blessed.

Added another shop-ArtFire and Etsy Team Columbus

I am taking a gamble.  I am going wild on this new venture.   I already have an Etsy shop, and an E-Willow shop.  Now I am part of an Etsy team in Columbus, and I set up shop on ArtFire. Hopefully I will have something to show you soon.  I just wanted to let you know what I am up to.

Have a good weekend, and God Bless You.

Etsy I {heart} you

It is not what it seems. It just means I have two subjects.

Etsy:

I am finally adding to my store. these are some cards that I made in the past two years, including the cards in the last post. I also made so little note cards (4) with hearts on them. At the moment, I have sort of a love/hate relationship with them. I love the fact that I can list my creations, but at the same time, because of the sales that I have been getting, they are too few and far between. Most of it is my fault. I have so many irons in the fire, until I did not have the time to dedicate to the real reason why I got into this business of making stuff and selling them in the first place. Maybe I am scared, nieve to the actual dedication? Who knows but me and God. So that is why I pulled out some of my stuff and looked at them. I did this back in November, and I can say that I did a heck of a banged up good job of making cards, and trusting my inner self to the process.
So what has changed? Dealing with the actual business end of this business. Now I see why so many people do not go into business for themselves. If we did, there would not be any problems of finding work in this country. People would find their passion, stick to it, and there would be no problem. The government is good in telling people what they need in order to succeed in small or home based business, and they are very good in telling us that it takes lots of money to run one. Yes, it does take a lot of money, but it also takes dedication, research into the idea, product, or service you want to sell. I did not just say that I wanted to make cards, and scrapbook pages, nor did I just say that i wanted to sell Longaberger products either. I thought long and hard about both businesses. I thought about the time it would take to be a success, and other things such as marketing to creditors, other people to invest into the business, and to who my consumers were going to be. Growing a business is fun, but is it also hard work, and you need everyone from family members to creditors and suppliers to work with you.

One of the things that you also need if you are a spiritual person is God. Some people call Him a higher power, but I not going say higher power, I am going to call God for who He is, and who I believe in. If you a personal relationship with Jesus, He is needed as well. If it wasn't for the prayers that I said, the prayers I asked for (and still asking for), and reading of the scriptures, I would have quit two or three months after I started with Longaberger, and I would never have started MDN Creates as well. I would have been like everyone else who has ever lost a job, or quit one.

So those of you who are on the fence about starting anything, rather it is a new part in your life or a new relationship, you may be asking me how did I get by. First and foremost, I am a very sensitive African American Female, who will cry on a dime. Yes I said it, Cry on a dime. I am a worry Wart, and a very impatient one at that. In the past 2 1/2 to 3 years, I have starting changing for the better. 20 years ago, I could not have started these two companies, but God had a plan, but in order for this plan to even start, He had to change me. I wanted things now. Oh there were things that I was willing to wait for, but they happening less and less. I started scrapbooking, which is one of the things that calms me, and I can sit hours on end just making something. I finally was able to finish school, and I have a B.S degree in marketing in 2003. Even though I am a mostly quiet person, I love talking to people, and that is one of the reasons why I started selling Longaberger (the other is the products).
Of course, you can see most of this in my bio off to the right, but I just wanted to let you know, that I can start two businesses 9 years apart, you can too, and we can beat this recession thing, and create new jobs. I now have more patience than I did a few years ago, because having a business does that to you, and I thank God for that. Now if He can help me find me a good man, who does not mind me having a couple of business, I will be happy. I don't online date.
Ok, so what I was talking about before I explained another side of why I got into the businesses that I have? OK, skip it. On to my card:

I {heart} You...

Isn't she a little cutie? The note card is lovely named: I {heart} you. I made four of them, and they are going up on either Etsy or E-Willow for sale. I {heart} is a simple card to make, and recipe calls for 1 6x3 card blank, folded in half to make it 3x3. I used a 12 x12 sheet of American Crafts paper, and cut it down to the size needed for the card. Next, I cut with my paper trimmer two sheets of Bazzill bling (unknown discontinued colors, but in the red/pink family) one 2” square in the first solid color, and one 1 3/4 “square of the second color. The third and final square, take a piece of patterned paper, and cut at 1 ½”, and adhere them together in the center of the card. You can leave it right there if you want, or take it a step further like I did, and either freehand, punch, or die cut out a heart (I used the Cricut Cartridge George and Basic Shapes for my heart), and cut two heart (I cut one at 1 ¼” and the other at 1”) and layer them on top of each other. Use a form adhesive square to raise the hearts for a 3-d effect. Take a sharpie marker (or any thin line marker) and hand write I Heart you, drawing a little heart in between “I” and the word “you”. If you do not feel comfortable with your writing, you can always do it by computer. Every once in a while I always find nothing says I love you to your sweetie like a hand written card. Make a bunch, and leave some “love notes” around the house. You do not have to wait until Valentine’s day to leave little notes. You can also make them for any other holiday or occasion, just change up the color and design.

Well that is it. Take care, and talk to you next time. God bless you.

Etsy

I have seven items listed on Etsy up for sale.  Two of them are custom orders that I can do, and they are note cards.   I believe I posted them on this blog around August 2009.   The rest are cards that I recently made within the last month.

Please look to the right-side panel to take a look.   you can also get to them through by clicking here.

Take care.  I have a longaberger event to go to.   If you are local, the Spring preview event is Saturday, May 1, 2010 and will feature new Longaberger products.   The event is from 10am-12nn.  is localed at the Doubletree Worthington, 175 Hutchinson Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43235. I will post further details on my other blog, and you may access it here.

Take care, and I hope and pray your weekend will go well.   God bless you, and take care.
